THE starting grid for the 2018 Adelaide 500 - and the Supercars Championship Series itself - is firming much quicker than usual.
The confirmation of Matt Stone Racing taking ownership of the ex-Britek Motorsport racing entitlements contract and the shuffle of an ex-Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport licence to Prodrive leaves three seats yet to be confirmed.
There will be no change in line-ups at Triple Eight, the newly named Walkinshaw Andretti United, Garry Rogers Motorsport, DJR Team Penske, Brad Jones Racing or Team18.
Certainly, the silly season that normally fires up in the back-end of every season now appears to be more of an exercise in open secrets.
Retiring stalwarts Jason Bright (Prodrive) and Todd Kelly (Nissan Motorsport) should have their respective seats filled by Richie Stanaway and Andre Heimgartner.
That leaves just one shuffle of seats, with Will Davison hotly tipped to join the new 23Red outfit established from the foundations of Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, with his place at Tekno Autosports expected to go to Jack Le Brocq.
That establishes a 26-car grid for the 2018 championship, with 14 Holdens, eight Fords and four Nissans to grid up.
