ARIA-award-winning band SHEPPARD has added the 2018 Adelaide 500 to their Australian tour dates, finalising the epic line-up of post-race entertainment at the 20th anniversary event.
Hailing from Brisbane and currently riding high in the charts with their latest hit ‘Coming Home’, the band will rev up the Sunday night after race concert crowd before international superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS hits the stage to close out the 2018 event.
SHEPPARD are no strangers to supporting huge concert acts, having toured with Justin Bieber and Little Mix in 2017, as well as playing in front of 80,000 fans at the Corona Capital Festival alongside the Foo Fighters, Green Day and more.
Formed in 2009 featuring siblings George, Emma and Amy Sheppard, the band will return to Adelaide, for a special performance as part of the line-up for the Sunday post race concert at the Adelaide 500 Street Circuit.
Announced in August, and taking to the stage after SHEPPARD on Sunday night, is international superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS, who returns to Australia with his Heavy Entertainment Show.
Lead vocalist George Sheppard said the band can’t wait to get the crowd going on the Sunday night and be a part of the massive concert line-up.
“We are really looking forward to being a part of the Adelaide 500 concert line up. It will be a huge show for us hitting the stage before Robbie Williams but we can’t wait to light up the stage for fans celebrating 20 years of the event,” he said.
“2017 was a massive year for us locally and internationally, and it will be great to get back to Adelaide to play for all the fans there!”
George will be joined by his siblings Amy and Emma, and Michael Butler, Jay Bovino and Dean Gordon for their one-off Adelaide show performing their various hits.
SHEPPARD is best known for the hit “Geronimo” from their 2014 album “Bombs Away”. The song went platinum in 21 countries, including the US top 40, and spent 44 weeks in the Australian ARIA chart over 2014 and 2015 including three weeks at number one.
The success of the song and the album earned the band seven ARIA award nominations in 2014, with SHEPPARD taking out the award for Best Group.
The multi-platinum super group returned to the forefront in 2017 with their latest hit ‘Coming Home’ racing up the charts around the world, making its debut on the US Today Show during their recent stateside tour and becoming the biggest radio hit of the Australian summer. Hitting #4 on the Australian Radio charts and #28 with a bullet on the ARIA Top 40, ‘Coming Home’ looks set to be the band’s biggest hit yet.
South Australian Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said, we are thrilled to have Sheppard complete the line-up of post-race concerts at this year’s Adelaide 500.
It is fantastic to see Australian acts find success internationally and even better when they come home to perform for their Aussie fans.
I look forward to welcoming Sheppard to South Australia as they join other big name acts Robbie Williams, Cold Chisel and Birds of Tokyo for a huge three days of entertainment at the Adelaide 500,” Minister Bignell said.
