With three days of the Superloop Adelaide 500 scheduled to hit high temperatures, it's important that everyone is sun smart and heat safe.
There are a few easy ways to keep cool over the three hot days, before the mercury drops for the final day of the event.
Here's our top tips for staying safe in the heat!
1. Slap on some Sunscreen and a hat
It’s a no-brainer, but we strongly recommend applying a broad spectrum minimum SPF 30+ sunscreen before you arrive. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a UV Index of 11 (Extreme) which means you need to slip, slop slap from at least 9.40am to 5.10pm!
You can also visit St John’s Ambulance to top up your sunscreen during the day.
Get extra protection by wearing protective clothing, such as a collared shirt, and a broad brim hat, or a cap. There will be plenty of hats and other clothing on sale at our various merchandise stalls around the cap, so you can stay sun safe in style!
You can bring sealed water in its original packaging into the Superloop Adelaide 500. But why not bring a refillable drink bottle too?
The event will have free refill stations and SA Water Quench Benches around the precinct, so you can keep downing the H2O all day!
3. Seek Shade
There’s plenty of natural shade in the parklands precinct, but we’ve also got 2.24 hectares of installed additional shade as well.
Keeping cool is very important at this event, so make sure you seek out shade throughout the day so you don't have to spend too long in the sun.
4. Find a Cool Zone
The Superloop Adelaide 500 will have cool zones set up around the event precinct, for when you need some cool relief!
There will be 200 metres of misting pipes added across the event, as well as misting fans.
5. Get Soaked in the City of Adelaide Family Zone
Parents can bring their kids to the Super Soaker Zone in the City of Adelaide Family Zone, adjacent the Pit Entry Grandstand.
Apart from being a great way to cool down, it's also a lot of fun for the kids!
