Shell V-Power Racing Team’s reigning series champion Scott McLaughlin has topped the timesheets in Practice 2 for the Superloop Adelaide 500.
He pipped the Red Bull duo of Jamie Whincup and Shane Van Gisbergen by a tenth of a second to take the fastest lap of the weekend so far with a 1:20.3906 in Friday morning’s first session.
- TICKETS: Don't miss out! Four-day tickets and single day Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets sill available.
The Kiwi, who retired from Thursday’s first practice session with steering troubles, was four tenths faster than teammate Fabian Coulthard in fifth – just behind the Mobil 1 MEGA Racing car of Scott Pye in fourth.
It was the Triple Eight built Commodores of IRWIN Racing’s new recruit Mark Winterbottom and pitlane minnow Todd Hazelwood of Matt Stone Racing in sixth and eight that would have turned heads, however.
The duo jumped into Holdens built by Triple Eight for the 2019 season after notable defections from Ford last year, and have already shown their pace.
Tickford continued its top ten form with Lee Holdsworht and Cam Waters putting their cars within seven tenths of McLaughlin’s fastest time.
The pair were split by local driver Tim Slade’s BJR-prepared Freightliner Commodore.
Practice 3 commences at 2:50pm ahead of Qualifying at 6:25pm on Friday evening. You can also buy your tickets here
