Saturday night concert headliner Pete Murray is excited about his return to the Superloop Adelaide 500 after-race concert stage.
Preparing for his third show at the event, he’ll headline Saturday night’s concert with Sheppard.
After a rain-affected show last time (that legendary weekend when Nick Percat took out his first overall win in Adelaide), Pete is pumped for a big crowd, with a warm 27-degree day currently anticipated for Saturday.
“This is going to be my third one [Superloop Adelaide 500],” Pete says.
“The first one was amazing with a massive crowd, the second was unfortunate because it just poured [with rain], but this one apparently there’s no rain [forecast] so it’s pretty exciting, I’m looking forward to it.
“You’ve got people who love music, love racing... With this show, everyone gets pretty pumped up – it’s pretty high-energy, the race.”
His best memory at the race – outside the stage – would undoubtedly be his brief stint as a hot lap passenger. That was, of course, the moment he realised the tremendous skill required to navigate the track.
“I have a great respect for it, because I did a super lap with one of the guys here the first time I came," he says.
"We did three laps, and I was pumped afterwards but I was also pretty nervous about it at the same time - you’re going so close to the walls!
"How they drive, they’re so good, and it gave me an appreciation for what they do."
There is a bumper concert line-up at the Superloop Adelaide 500 in 2020, with loved Aussie names across all three nights, including Grinspoon on Friday with Sneaky Sound Systema and The Superjesus, Saturday with Pete Murray and Sheppard and Sunday with Hilltop Hoods joined by Illy and GFlip.
And like all the acts, Pete has some good news for fans.
"There will be lots of songs they know, I’ll be expecting a lot of singing along from them!"
The Superloop Adelaide 500 kicks off on Thursday 20 February 2020.
