David Reynolds and Shane Van Gisbergen were separated by mere thousandths of a second, Stadium Super Trucks were back on the track and schools flooded the precinct for the annual schools day on the opening Thursday of the Superloop Adelaide 500.
Fans enjoyed a full schedule of on-track action including the anticipated return of the Stadium Super Trucks, the event debut of Trans Am Series and the first Supercars session of the year.
An estimated 37,900 fans turned through the gates, including 48 local school groups, with nearly 3,000 students and teachers enjoying the iconic Adelaide Street Circuit and the opportunity to interview drivers at a special schools press conference.
Friday crowds will have more Supercars action with Practice 2 from 2:05pm and final practice at 6:00pm.
It also marks the first-night of After-Race Concerts, with Australian favourites Grinspoon, Sneaky Sound System and The Superjesus taking to the stage from 6:30pm.
